A podcast for those who serve.
The Chaplain’s Desk is a quiet place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with matters of faith, purpose, and perspective. Hosted by Chaplain Kurt Richey, this podcast is created especially for men and women in law enforcement — and for those who support them.
Drawing from Scripture, lived experience, and years of pastoral and chaplaincy service, each episode offers thoughtful encouragement without politics, sensationalism, or noise. Here, authority is discussed with humility, justice with mercy, and service with gratitude.
These are conversations about calling, burden, restraint, and hope — spoken calmly, respectfully, and with deep appreciation for the work you do.
New episodes release twice monthly, on the first and third Tuesdays at 8 a.m.

In this episode, Chaplain Kurt Richey uses a story from his early days as a meat cutter to illustrate the "vicarious burden" carried by law enforcement officers. Just as the public enjoys their food without wanting to see the messy reality of how it's prepared, communities rely on deputies to absorb the dark, difficult realities of the world so citizens can live in peace—meaning an officer's true success lies in quietly bearing these invisible burdens so the public doesn't have to.
